Facing the challenges of transitioning to civilian life, Tyson pursued a university degree, but soon realised his true passion was in supporting veterans. Drawing from his personal experience with the DVA claims process, he developed a deep understanding of the system’s complexities and the hurdles veterans face.
Tyson’s journey ultimately led him to VetComp, where he works alongside a dedicated team united by the common goal of providing expert, streamlined assistance with DVA claims. Eligibility & Claims Process
Can I submit a DVA claim if I am still serving?
Yes, you can submit a DVA claim while still serving in the Australian Defence Force. In fact, DVA encourages current ADF members to lodge claims as soon as possible for any injuries, illnesses, or conditions sustained during service.
Who is eligible to make a DVA claim?
Any current or former Australian Defence Force member who has sustained an injury or illness related to their service may be eligible. Our team assesses each case individually and assists you with your initial liability and permanent impairment claim.
Can I still claim if my condition developed after I left the service?
Yes. Many service-related injuries and illnesses take time to emerge. Our team is experienced in identifying potential links between your current conditions and your ADF service, even if those conditions developed after your separation.
How long does the DVA claims process usually take?
Timeframes can vary depending on the complexity of your claim and DVA’s processing times. While timeframes are largely influenced by DVA, VetComp aims to have your claim finalised within 12 months. There is no guarantee that you will be eligible for any compensation from DVA. What kind of medical evidence do I need?

If you don’t already have this evidence, our team can help by connecting you with providers who are paid directly by DVA. How is my information protected?
