Full medical coverage for DVA Gold Card holders

DVA Gold Card

What’s the difference between DVA White & Gold cards?

A DVA Healthcare Card can give veterans access to a wide range of healthcare services & discounted benefits across Australia.

If you’ve served even a single day in the ADF, you’re automatically eligible for a DVA White Card. This card provides access to treatment for any conditions that DVA has accepted as service-related, along with non-liability mental health care, which means mental health treatment is covered even if the condition hasn’t been formally linked to your service.

While a White Card offers important support, the DVA Gold Card represents the highest level of healthcare coverage available to veterans. It covers all medical and dental treatment within Australia, regardless of whether the condition is accepted by DVA. To qualify, you must be assessed at 60 or more permanent impairment points under the MRCA legislation.

What do I need to do to get a DVA Gold Card?

Obtaining a DVA Gold Card involves meeting specific eligibility criteria. To be eligible DVA will need to assess your impairment at 60 PI points or higher, meaning this process starts with the submission of your claims. It is important to take careful consideration when preparing your DVA claim and ensure that nothing is missed.

Overlooking claims which you could be eligible for may result in less PI points, potentially decreasing the likelihood of you being eligible for a DVA gold card.

No obligation. 100% confidential.

How does the Gold Card help with everyday healthcare costs?

Yes. The Gold Card often covers far more than standard insurance policies, with no premiums, no gap fees.

The DVA Gold Card provides access to a wide range of concessions beyond healthcare, including discounted or free public transport, reduced utility bills, vehicle registration, and council rates, depending on your state. It also covers prescriptions under the Repatriation Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme and ensures no-gap treatment with DVA-approved providers. Many businesses recognise the Gold Card as a concession card, offering discounts on retail, travel, and services. Some benefits require separate registration, but the card is widely accepted as proof of veteran status and entitlement.

Yes. As long as the provider is DVA-registered, you can choose who you see—GPs, specialists, allied health professionals, and even dentists. There’s no need to stay within a specific network, and most providers will bill DVA directly so you won’t pay out-of-pocket.

Yes. The Gold Card covers a wide range of dental services, including check-ups, fillings, dentures, extractions, and preventative care—provided the treatment is clinically necessary and delivered by a DVA-registered dentist.
