📆 Date: August, 2025
📌 Location: Melbourne, VIC
VetComp was honoured to stand alongside leaders, advocates, and community members at the 25th anniversary celebration of Mental Health First Aid. The evening was dedicated to raising awareness, strengthening grassroots connections, and amplifying the voices of those living with mental health challenges.
VetComp was represented on the night by Managing Director Zach and team member Hope, who joined a table of defence-related businesses and individuals, including representatives from Defence Health and an MHFA staff member whose partners served.”It was lovely being able to chat with them about the importance of advocacy and recognition of mental health during service and post-discharge,” Zach shared. “It’s something that is so often swept under the rug, and veterans are instructed to ‘man up’ over.”
Every member of the VetComp team is trained in Mental Health First Aid, ensuring we have the skills to recognise, respond, and provide support when veterans need it most. This commitment allows us to walk alongside the veteran community with empathy, knowledge, and practical care. Whether through trauma-informed advocacy, spreading awareness, or continuing to break down stigma.

Mental Health First Aid International began with a simple question: “We have physical first aid… why not mental health first aid?” That question sparked a global movement. Today, over 8 million people across 35 countries have been trained in Mental Health First Aid, equipping them with the skills and confidence to support those experiencing mental health problems.
The Inaugural Gala brought together more than 200 leaders, partners, MHFAiders, Instructors, and advocates to celebrate this milestone and invest in what’s next. All proceeds from the event go toward expanding the reach of their Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Mental Health First Aid programs, strengthening support in communities that need it most.
